Pennsylvanians Together In Action Joins National “The Price Is High” Affordability Week of Action

Pennsylvania campaign will feature events in four congressional districts, new “Republican Receipts” and PATIA’s ongoing health care affordability campaign

Harrisburg, PA—  Yesterday, Economic Security Project Action (ESPA), joined by national and state partners across the country, launched “The Price Is High” Affordability Week of Action, a coordinated campaign running September 23–30 focused on the rising costs of health care, groceries, child care, utilities, gas and other basic needs. Pennsylvanians Together In Action (PATIA) is joining the national effort with a week of in-person and digital actions focused on four Pennsylvania congressional districts: PA-01, PA-07, PA-08 and PA-10.

In Pennsylvania, PATIA’s participation will include four “PA Feels the Squeeze” community events in partnership with MomsRising Together, district-specific congressional fact sheets and action alerts, a digital campaign, and the release of “Republican Receipts” examining the affordability records of Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan and Scott Perry.

That affordability crisis is already showing up in Pennsylvania. Enhanced federal premium tax credits expired at the end of 2025 after Congress did not extend them. Pennie reports that premiums doubled on average in 2026, and nearly 202,000 Pennsylvanians have canceled Pennie coverage this year. Pennie says terminated consumers cited the loss of the enhanced credits and increased premiums as the primary reason for leaving coverage.

Throughout the Week of Action, PATIA will connect those health care impacts to the broader squeeze families are experiencing from groceries, child care, utilities and other necessities—and provide Pennsylvanians with information about the records of their members of Congress.

The Week of Action builds on PATIA’s ongoing health care affordability and accountability campaign in these four congressional districts, which is focused on the impact federal policy decisions are having on Pennsylvanians’ ability to access and afford health coverage.

“Pennsylvanians don’t need anyone to tell them that the price is high—they are living it. A paycheck only goes so far when the cost of health care, groceries, child care, utilities and everything else a family needs keeps taking a bigger bite out of it,” said Felicity Williams, Executive Director of Pennsylvanians Together In Action. “But families also deserve to know how we got here and what the people elected to represent them have done with the power we gave them. This Week of Action is about connecting those kitchen-table costs to the choices being made in Washington. We’re putting campaign promises next to voting records, and those votes next to what families are experiencing across Pennsylvania. We have the receipts. Now Pennsylvanians can see the record for themselves and make their voices heard.”

“PA Feels the Squeeze” Events Across Pennsylvania

As part of the Week of Action, PATIA is partnering with MomsRising Together for four “PA Feels the Squeeze” lemonade stand events in communities across the four congressional districts. The events will create opportunities for Pennsylvanians to share how rising costs are affecting their families and learn more about federal policy decisions affecting affordability.

  • Langhorne (PA-01): Friday, September 25 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM
  • Scranton (PA-08): Saturday, September 26 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM & 5:00 – 6:00 PM
  • Harrisburg (PA-10): Saturday, September 26 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Allentown (PA-07): Tuesday, September 29, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Members of the media interested in attending an event or speaking with PATIA should contact Kirstin Snow at snow@pennpolicy.org.

The Pennsylvania Receipts

PATIA will also release “Republican Receipts” for each of the four congressional districts throughout the Week of Action. The receipt-style graphics pair lawmakers’ public statements about affordability with their voting records and district-level information about the costs facing their constituents.

The Pennsylvania Receipts feature: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), Rep. Rob Bresnahan (PA-08) and Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10).

The Pennsylvania releases are part of ESPA’s national Republican Receipts project, which includes congressional districts across the country. The national toolkit describes the Receipts as combining affordability promises, congressional votes, and district-level information on costs including housing, energy, child care and food.
